One of the most difficult assignments we had to do in my writing course was exactly that - to write what our story was about. It was only after our tutor said "think of the blurb at the back of a book" that the penny dropped!

It was still a really difficult thing to do though - almost as if writing a story in less than 50 words.
This link is great - it's really made me think about how I'd distill my plot into something short and snappy. I'm just about to send out a batch of query letters so the timing's perfect.
